Music in relation to design

The brief asks for the illustration to reflect the message conveyed within the interview. After listening to the Experimental Jetset interview, the part that I found the most interesting was how the designers felt about music in relation to their own design work. I created this font to reflect the idea of music being within design and an integral part of it.

Adidas

This was a recent project for Adidas Originals. It is a 20'x5' billboard design and was showcased on their display at the Project, Las Vegas Show 2010 this month. The stipulations were to use the traditional Adidas blue and for the design to include the phrase "Celebrate Originality". I love how so much is communicated within these images, this would be amazing for my spread as with all this information I would need very little text.

Inspiration...music

In the interview with
Experimental Jetset, there
is a discussion about the
importance of music and
its relation to design. This
is what I will be basing my
entire 4 page spread on.
The images shown to the
right are a sample of those
that I find bring music to
my mind. Not only the
fact that they feature some
musical aspects but the
colours and flowing forms
have deep connotations for
me in relation to the music
I listen to. I think that this
could be a really
interesting path to follow
and I’m really looking
forward to progressing
with it.

My new brief is to create a 4-page illustrated magazine article, re-presenting selected sections of an interview from Experimental Jetset.

Experimental Jetset is a small, independent graphic design studio based in Amsterdam, consisting of three people, Marieke Stolk, Danny van den Dungen and Erwin Brinkers.

Accidents in the kitchen

My chosen theme is accidents in the kitchen. I have found some quite amusing but shocking statistics about kitchen safety and as soon as I began brain storming I came up with many different ways of animating these statistics. I have made the decision to animate using Flash and will now create my story board.

Flash vs. Stop frame

Flash is something that I'm very new to, I'm learning quickly and it's really interesting. Even transforming a circle to a square takes time and I know it will take me a long time to create my finished animation. I thought about using stop frame but I know that this is something that should only be opted for if it adds to the chosen theme. I think my best option is flash so I will be practicing and experimenting from now on.

Eat Healthy, Kids & Eco-Bunny

This is the style of animation that I would like to recreate...they're not too serious but still convey the intended messages. I want to communicate my message without too serious a tone.

New brief

The new brief is to create an animation, this is something I've never done before and I'm really excited to get started. The animation must be based around a statistic so I will need to start my research...
