Letter Press Continued...
In my second session of letter press I wanted to really think into the meaning behind my work as I had already played about with how letter press actually works. I found a quote from American poet Robert Frost - "Freedom lies in being bold". I thought that this would be useful as it was short enough for me to be able to create a selection of presses. The finished work is shown below.

Letter Press

I had my first experience using letter press today, I spend the time experimenting with the words 'freedom' and 'sequence'. I really didn't think I would enjoy something which is so unpredictable but I found that it was a fantastic for me to be able to stop trying to make my work so perfect and just try out using a medium that is more raw. I think that I create some nice work, two examples are shown below.

Poole continued...
I spent the day in Poole taking photographs of my surroundings...the instructions were pretty vague so I just experimented with architecture and typography. Once we were given the brief of an editorial illustration I thought that my pictures were spot on. It was useful to be able to use my images of the typography alongside the buildings to create something that I feel belongs in a national newspaper. We only had a week to complete this mini-brief so my outcome isn't quite finished...

Poole...

My current project brief is to produce an editorial illustration for a national newspaper for an article based on the regeneration of Poole. While researching artists for inspiration i came across Daniel Bristow, an illustrator from London, England. his work is created using simply pencils and photoshop and i think it would fit perfectly in a newspaper supplement.
